We woke up on February 15th to an unusual sight in Houston - snow everywhere. And more than a light dusting. So of course I had to grab the drone and fly around a bit. (I would have shot more, but I didn't trust my ability to drive in the snow!) I've actually had my 1st gen Mavic Mini for a while now, but unfortunately I haven't had (or taken!) that much opportunity to fly it. And while I plan on learning it a little more and getting some nice footage to play with "eventually", I couldn't pass up the opportunity to get in the air when it snowed in Houston a couple weeks ago. So I cut together some of the footage - check this out: That much snow was a pretty amazing sight here in the Houston area. I flew as long as I could before my fingers got numb (hard to fly a drone that uses a touch screen phone with gloves on!), and then switched to the 7D and grabbed some stills before retreating back into the warmth.
Of course all of this was Monday, when most of us were still just enjoying the wonder of seeing our usually warm city covered in snow, before things got bad for some many people. My fiancé and I were generally lucky, only loosing internet for a few hours one day and power for about a day mid week.
