One more project off the list! I've finally finished my edit of the Titus Andronicus production at Clear Creek Community Theatre from summer 2017. It took a littler longer than expected, partially because it kept getting put on hold to work on other things, but I finished it the other day, and I'm glad to be moving on to the next project. Unfortunately I can't post the full show here, because of some rights issues with music. (The theatre has different rights/rules for stage than video), but they will be posting a few different scenes in the near future. However, I've got a sneak peak here for you all who follow the blog - check it out: Pretty great, right? Really in all seriousness, even though I'm glad to finally be done with it, I've really enjoyed editing this project. The director, my brother Robert, put together an amazing cast to undertake this really crazy show, and they did a phenomenal job, and I can't wait to see (and work with) these actors again in anything they do in the future. Of course - since this is my blog, so a little behind the scenes: All the scenes that'll be posted were pulled from a recording of the full show from the end of the run. We shot it with three cameras - a Sony Ex3, a Sony F3 (borrowed from TPC) and my A7s recording 4K into my Atomos Shogun Inferno. (Thank goodness for timecode!) and I edited the whole project in Avid. Now, I know there's a lot of people who go back and forth between whether Avid or Premiere is the better tool for indie production. But I have yet to find a tool that handles large multicamera productions better than Avid, and when you have 2 HD and 1 4K cameras, all timecode synced on a two and half hour show, Avid really shines. Anyway, I think that about wraps it up for today. If you want get notified when the rest of the scenes are released, be sure to subscribe to Clear Creek Community Theatre's YouTube channel and be sure to turn on the notifications. As always, thank you for reading - if you've got any questions about the edits for Titus, or any other projects I've posted - feel free to let me know in the comments below. And of course, be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram: @tomameek to see behind the scenes glimpses of what I'm working on. And don't forget to subscribe to my YouTube channel - I do plan on getting back into my vlog eventually, I just keep putting it off because I haven't had the time or energy - plus I've got some other fun little projects planned. Until next time. -Thomas PS: Here's the teaser trailer I shot for Titus Andronicus if you missed it (or if you just want to watch it again!) |
