So as you know, last week I was out at the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) Convention in Las Vegas. Though NAB has long ago stopped being just about broadcasting, its filled with sessions about all kinds of film and post techniques, and of course all the major gear manufacturers for all kinds of products related to "the industry" - plus networking opportunities. And as usual, when I get back from being away from the office for a solid week, I hit the ground running Monday morning and haven't hardly had time to breathe, let alone collect my thoughts and go through all the information I picked up out there. So instead of a full blog post I'm going to start with what I guess could be called a "teaser". Basically, in this post I'm going to post pictures of some of what stood out to me while I was out there at the convention, and if you want to know more about any particular image/piece of gear let me know and I'll include it in my blog post for next week which will have more pictures, and more detail (and some video too!) - I apparently just didn't have time to write a "real" blog post this first week back. So scroll down and let me know in the comments below if anything catches your eye: Above - the Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera 4K. Below - The Blackmagic URSA Broadcast 4K. Above - CEO of Atomos discussing new offerings, including the software upgrade to Prores RAW Below - the new Atomos Ninja V (on a Nikon camera) Above - a nifty little 360 camera that I can't remember the name of right now Below - the new Insta360 Titan (Sorry its out of focus! There's a lot going on out there!) And finally for this teaser - the new Moza Mini-Mi Phone stabilizer that really caught my eye: (with the amazing price tag of $109!) And of course there's so much that I didn't get pictures of. The new FS5II, piles of blackmagic gear, a new AJA KiPro, Davinic Resolve 15 (with Fusion!), etc.
So - how's that for a taste of NAB? As I said, I'll be going into more detail in what I saw out there once I've had a chance to collect my thoughts and actually set them out in some kind of logical order, but until then - take a look at what I've posted and let me know in the comments below if you want to make sure I go into more detail on any of the things I shared pictures of in this blog (and if you heard of anything else that was out there, let me know - I may have stopped by to see it and just not snapped a pic!). I will try to get the more detailed posts up as quickly as I can, look for them next week. In the meantime, if you want to see more, be sure to follow me on Twitter and Instagram: @tomameek And as always, thank you for reading. -Thomas |
